Handmaid's tale 1st post
So far the story is interesting. Offred became a handmaid by creating a stillborn baby through pregnancy. I don't quite understand how this brings her from being a prisoner to a higher level. The angels are not able to look at the prisoners because they are all men. If the men are not able to look at the women then how are handmaid positions created? is the commander the only one able to create that position?

Macbeth
I think that if Macbeth would have never met the witches he would not have tried to kill the king. I believe this would not happen because when Macbeth is thinking about killing the king he has second thoughts. In the end his wife was the one who pushed him into killing the king. Macbeth had two outside forces pushing him into committing this crime. If it would have just been his wife, he would have been able to overcome her persuasion and would not have killed the king

Harrison Bergeron
After reading this story it really gives me a broader view of how Some American's are more advanced and how others can be jealous. The General of America in this story really makes me mad and makes me wish that someone else would have stood up and protected Harrison. I think that the message that is sent through this story implies that equality is not always a good thing. If everyone in the world was equal, life would not be as rewarding as it is meant to be.
the ones who run away from Omelas
After reading this story i have a couple of questions to make this book a little more clear. The first question is: After the narrator published the story, did the someone do something about the child that was being held captive? Also I did not understand why the narrators family began to despise him.

The Lottery
I think that the lottery really defeats the purpose of itself. The reason the village is having the lottery is because it does not want to return to the barbaric times. But when they begin to stone Tessie because she got the black dot on her card brings them back to the barbaric state of things.

Young Goodman Brown
I have a theory that when Goodman meets the man in the forest, the man is actually the devil in human form. I came to this assumption by how the man keeps trying to give Goodman his staff (source of evil) to torment his soul. In the end the staff corrupted his soul for the rest of his life.

The Yellow Wallpaper
After reading this story, it gives made me a different view on the husband rather than the main character being crazy. In my opinion, the husband is the one who made the woman go crazy. He moved her to an insane asylum and locked her up in a room that had bars and yellow paper surrounding her. I believe that the husband is the one to blame for what happened to the main character.
